Along with his father, George W. Bush shares a common descent from John Warren with President James Garfield. His grandfather on his father's side, Prescott Sheldon Bush, was an investment banker and a U.S. Senator. His great-grandfather, Samuel Prescott Bush, was President of Buckeye Steel Castings in Columbus, Ohio. As a result of supplying steel parts for the many railroads that the Harriman family owned, the Bush family became close to the Harriman family with Prescott Sheldon Bush going to work in investment banking with Averell Harriman as President of Brown Brothers Harrisman and Company in New York City. Another great-grandfather, George Herbert Walker, helped organize the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair as well as the United States Golf Association (USGA) and the Walker Cup golf matches. George W. Bush shares a common descent from Samuel Hinckley, an early New England settlers, with President Barack Obama.
